This day usually comes around 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami, the celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth.

Radha, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, represents the epitome of love, devotion, and spiritual longing for Krishna. Devotees see her as the personification of the divine feminine, and her relationship with Krishna is seen as the highest form of unconditional love.
On Radha Ashtami, devotees engage in special prayers, fasts, and rituals, especially in places associated with Radha and Krishna, such as Vrindavan and Barsana in Uttar Pradesh. Temples are decorated, and idols of Radha and Krishna are adorned with new clothes and jewellery. Bhajans (devotional songs) and kirtans (religious gatherings with singing) are sung in praise of Radha and her love for Krishna.
Fasting on this day is believed to bring spiritual benefits, with devotees observing the fast from sunrise until the puja (worship) is completed, after which they partake in the prasad (blessed food). Radha Ashtami is a time for devotees to reflect on love, devotion, and the deep connection between the soul and the divine.
