Karwa Chauth 2024 Date and Moonrise Time for Ending Fast

Posted on October 16, 2024

Karwa Chauth is a traditional Hindu festival primarily observed by married women in North India. It involves fasting from sunrise to moonrise for the well-being, prosperity, and longevity of their husbands.
Women begin the day with a pre-dawn meal called “Sargi,” often prepared by their mothers-in-law. They refrain from eating or drinking throughout the day and break their fast after sighting the moon, offering prayers and water to the moon god before their husbands help them break the fast. The festival is seen as a celebration of love, devotion, and marital bonds.
Karwa Chauth in 2024 falls on October 20, Sunday.
The Chaturthi Tithi begins at 06:46 AM on October 20 and ends at 04:16 AM on October 21.
