Significance of Saphala Ekadashi
The word “Saphala” means “to make successful,” and this Ekadashi is believed to help devotees achieve their goals and overcome obstacles. It is also said that those who fast and pray to Lord Vishnu with devotion on Saphala Ekadashi gain good fortune and happiness in life.
Rituals and Observances
Fasting: Devotees usually observe a strict fast, avoiding grains, rice, and certain other foods. Some may opt for a complete fast, while others may consume fruits and milk.
Worship of Lord Vishnu: Special prayers and offerings are made to Lord Vishnu. Devotees often recite Vishnu Sahasranama (a hymn with 1,000 names of Lord Vishnu) and other sacred texts.
Staying Awake: Devotees keep vigil during the night, engaging in devotional songs, prayers, and listening to spiritual discourses.
Charity: Donating food, clothes, or other essentials to the needy is considered an integral part of the observance.
